Neena Gupta is an Indian actress and television director. Known for her work in both art-house and commercial films. She won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for playing a young widow in Woh Chokri. She won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress.
She also acted in the Indian television soap opera Buniyaad. It was directed by Ramesh Sippy and Jyoti. The series was written by Manohar Shyam Joshi. The serial deals with the partition of India in 1947 and its aftermath.
It first aired in 1986 on television channel DD National. It was re-aired on DD Metro and Sahara One. The story spans the journey in India from 1916-1978.
Recently, Neena shared an old clip of herself receiving an award for the serial on her Instagram account. The video shows Neena Gupta receiving an award from the late actor Amrish Puri on the stage. She is also seen delivering dialogues from the show.
The video clip has gone all viral. The video starts with Neena getting up from her seat to receive an award from Amrish Puri. When she heads towards the mic, Amrish extends his hand, and Neena, looking in another direction, notices it a bit little. She then turns around and shakes hands with the actor.
The actress then approaches the mic and says this dialogue from the Buniyaad show, “Kahiye Mr. Roshanlal, apna yaara zara khasta haal. 100 ka note zara dijiye nikaal.”
Sharing the video, she commented, “This dialogue was from the serial Buniyaad and the audience wanted me to say it when I got my ward.”
