First Look: Mumbai Metro Yellow Line 2A Andheri West Station meets existing Versova Ghatkopar Blue Line 1 DN Nagar station at this point. Thread 1 – at D.N. Nagar Metro Station.

Mumbai, India (Metro Rail Today): Mumbaikars wait for riding on approx. 35 kilometere long Metro Line 2A and 7 is now over. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will innaugrate the remaining stretch of Mumbai Metro’s Line 2A and Line 7 on January 19, 2023. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is preparing for the inauguration of the Phase 2 of Line 2A & 7.

After completing the testing of rolling stock, signaling system, civil works, track and speed trials of Phase-ll of Metro Line 2A and 7, the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) has issued safety certificate to MMRDA on 12th January 2023.

“MMRDA have received the safety certificate for the commercial operations today. We are ready to provide world class service to the Mumbaikars. Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister have inspected Gundavali Metro station today in the view of Commissioning of Phase II,” said S V R Srinivas, Metropolitan Commisioner, MMRDA.

“Mumbai is so looking forward to most popular global leader Hon PM Narendra Modi ji inaugurate the 35 km long phase 2 of Mumbai Metro 2A – yellow line & Mumbai Metro 7 – red line, bringing about huge relief in the lives of millions of Mumbaikars, especially in Western Mumbai!,” twitted Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister, Maharashtra.

“It is matter of such great pride that the Bhoomipujan too of these Metro lines was done by PM Narendra Modi ji. Along with CM Eknath Shinde ji, today, inspected the Metro at Gundvali (Andheri west) station. Preparations are in full swing and excitement is in the air!,” commented Fadnavis after inspecting the preparations of metro stretches.

Yellow Line 2A: Dahisar East – DN Nagar

No. of Stations: 16 (elevated)
Project Cost: ₹6,410 crores
Station Names: Dahisar East, Upper Dahisar, Kandarpada, Mandapeshwar, Eksar, Borivali (West), Pahadi Eksar, Kandivali (West), Dahanukarwadi, Valnai, Malad (West), Lower Malad, Pahadi Goregaon, Goregaon (West), Oshiwara, Lower Oshiwara and Andheri (West).
Red Line 7: Dahisar (East) – Andheri (East)

Length: 16.475 km
No. of Stations: 13 (elevated)
Project Cost: ₹6,208 crores
Station Names: Dahisar (East), Ovaripada, National Park, Devipada, Magathane, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bandongri, Pushpa Park, Pathan Wadi, Aarey, Mahanand, JVLR Junction, Shankarwadi, and Andheri (East).
After opening of entire Line 2A and Line 7, the Mumbai Metro Line 1 – the city’s first elevated Metro corridor – will also see an increase in ridership as these lines will have interchange stations at Andheri West (Line 2A) and Gundavali in Andheri East (Line 7) with the existing Metro Line 1 at DN Nagar and WEH stations respectively.

“The current ridership on DN Nagar is 16,000 to 17,000 daily whereas on WEH (Western Express Highway), it is around 20,000. Since these two stations are connecting the two new Metro lines, the current ridership is expected to increase further,” said Mumbai Metro One officials.
