1)  Avatar

Released in 2009, Avatar is an American epic science-fiction film. It was directed, written, produced, and co-edited by James Cameron. The film stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Michelle Rodriguez, and Sigourney Weaver. The film had been set in the mid-22 century.

The film revolves around the humans who are colonizing Pandora, a lush habitable moon of a gas giant in the Alpha Centauri star system, in order to mine the valuable material Unobtanium. The expansion of the mining colony threatens the continued existence of a local tribe of Na’vi. The film’s title refers to a genetically engineered Na’vi body operated from the brain of a remotely located human that is used to interact with the natives of Pandora.

2) Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Released in 2015, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is an American epic space opera. It’s produced, directed, and co-written by J.J. Abrams. Set exactly thirty years after Return of the Jedi, this film follows Rey, Finn, Poe Dameron, and Han Solo’s search for Luke Skywalker. It also shows their fight in the Resistance, led by General Leia Organa and veterans of the Rebel Alliance, against Kylo Ren and the First Order, a successor to the Galactic Empire.

The film became the second-highest grossed film till date. It is estimated to reach $2, 068,223,624.

3) Jurassic World

Released in 2015, Jurassic World is an American science-fiction action film. It was directed by Colin Trevorrow. The film features Chriss Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D’Onofrio, Ty Simpkins, Nick Robinson, Omar Sy, BD Wong, and Irrfan Khan.

Set 22 years after the events of Jurassic Park, Jurassic World takes place on the same fictional island Isla Nublar. According to the movie, the park plunges into chaos when a transgenic dinosaur escapes from its enclosure and goes on a rampage.

This film took the third-ranking in the list with an estimated amount of $1,670,516,444.
