Mahesh Babu, born on 9 August 1975, is a Telugu actor, producer, media personality, and philanthropist. He has won several awards including, eight Nandi Awards, five Filmfare Awards South, three CineMAA Awards, three South Indian International Movie Awards, and one IIFA Utsavam Award. He also owns the production house G.Mahesh Bau Entertainment.
The younger son of Telugu actor Krishna, Mahesh made his debut as a child artist in a cameo role in Needa, at the age of four. He acted in eight other films as a child artist. He made his debut as a lead actor with the film Rajakumarudu. The film won him Nandi Award for Best Male Debut.
Mahesh achieved his breakthrough with the supernatural drama Murari, and the action film Okkadu. Sarileru Neekevvaru, his highest grosser, collected over Rs.2.6 billion at the box office. 18 of his Telugu films have been dubbed in Hindi. Some of them include Pokiri, Athadu, Dookudu, and Okkadu.
Referred to as the Prince of Tollywood in the media, Mahesh is one of the most popular and influential actors of Telugu cinema. He is described as the superstar of Telugu cinema by his fans.
In addition to being an actor, Mahesh is a humanitarian and philanthropist. He runs a charitable trust and no-profit organisation, Heal-a-Child. He is also associated with Rainbow Hospital as their ambassador.
In an interview, Mahesh revealed that he had grown up in Chennai. He didn’t learn to read and write in Telugu. However, he is fluent in speaking and learns his dialogues by listening to his director who narrates it to him.
Mahesh was seen in the Telugu action-comedy film Sarileru Neekevvaru. He plays the role of an Indian Army officer. The film proved to be a box office hit. It earned more than Rs.260 crore worldwide.
