KGF Chapter 1 was one of the most acclaimed Kannada films of 2018. It was also the most expensive film of 2018. It was an action-drama film starring Yash and Srinidhi Shetty. The movie was fictional set during the gold rush in India. It recounts the life and rise of Rocky, who is a labourer at first. He soon rises the ranks and becomes a name synonymous with justice for the weak and terror for the oppressors.
The title comes from the real-life Kolar Gold Fields in present-day Karnataka. The fields were known to be robbed several times during India’s gold rush in the 70s and 80s.
The movie earned huge critical acclaim for the action sequences. The movie was dubbed in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Telugu as well, which helped reach a wider audience.
KGF Chapter 2 is the highly anticipated sequel of the film. The action film is written and directed by Prashant Neel. Yash will be continuing with his role. Bollywood stars like Sanjay Dutt and Raveena Tandon are also seen in this sequel. The shooting of the movie had started in August 2019 at Cyanide Hill in Kolar Gold Fields.
The film’s budget is Rs.100 crore, making it the most expensive Kannada film of 2021. It will also be dubbed in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam languages. The South Indian language rights of KGF: Chapter 2 has been bagged by the Zee network for a huge price.
The Bollywood superstar Sanjay Dutt will be playing the main enemy role of Adheera. The new posters from the film were released on his 62nd birthday, i.e., July 29. In the poster, he is seen wearing heavy armour and holding a sword.
The most-awaited film features Srinidhi Shetty, Raveena Tandon, Balakrishna, Anant Nag, Malavika Avinash, Saran Shakti, and Achyut Kumar in prominent roles. The movie is produced by Vijay Kiragandur. It is brought by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment, Homabale Films, and AA Films.
The thrilling movie was supposed to release on July 16th this year. However, the harsh second wave of the covid-19 forced the filmmakers to postpone the release of the film. While the producers are yet to reveal the release dates, some reports suggest that the film will likely release worldwide in December this year in theatres.
