Mumbai, the capital city of Maharashtra, is the second most populous city after Delhi. It has the highest number of millionaires and billionaires in the country. It’s home to three UNESCO World Heritage Sites namely, Elephanta Caves, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, and the city’s distinctive ensemble of Victorian and Art Deco buildings. Mumbai is also the financial, commercial, and entertainment capital of India.

Ganesha Chaturthi is one of the main festivals of Maharashtra. The celebration is done in a grand and vast manner. People from all over the country visit Maharashtra to view the amazing celebration of the festival. Ganesha Chaturthi is falling on 10 September for the year 2021. Due to the ongoing covid-19 pandemic, the festival is going to be celebrated along with safety restrictions.

To ensure the safety of Mumbai citizens, the Mumbai police have imposed Section 144 in the city. The criminal procedure code will be remained imposed on the city from September 10 to 19. Starting from today, the police have prohibited gathering more than 5 people.

Processions and visits to Ganapathi pandals have been prohibited. Organizers have been asked to try live coverage of the Aarti through social media platforms. The officials also said that those who wish to volunteer must be fully vaccinated.

In a video message released by the Mumbai police commissioner Hemant Nagrale, he said, “Ganapathi Utsav is huge in Mumbai. People from all religions, linguistic backgrounds, and regions take part in the celebration with great enthusiasm. Covid cases have been rising in Mumbai in the past few days. To avoid a bigger spike and keeping in mind the health of the public, the police department will enforce the conditions laid down by the government.”

“Ganapathi idols at home should not be above the height of 2 feet. Public Ganapathi idols should not be of more than 4 feet,” he added.

The Mumbai Police Chief said that the Ganapathi pandals must take all the safety precautions and allow not more than 10 people for the immersion of the idol. The number of people is restricted to five for household Ganapathi idols.
