Shagufta Ali, a veteran actress, is coming back after three years and preparing to release her movie, Sumeru. Well known for roles in TV shows such as Punar Vivah, Saath Nibhana Saathiya, and Sasural Simar Ka, she is very reluctant to go back to TV.
Shagufta gets immense support for the troubles she faced
The actress was diagnosed with breast cancer and had a lot on her plate. The actress’s last work was for the show Bepannah in 2018. She has been talking about the financial strains that she faced, and the pandemic only added to her woes. However, Shagufta is here to start anew and waiting for the theatrical release of her new movie. Sumeru, which has been shot in certain locations in Uttarakhand, is set to release on October 1.
Shagufta talked about her troubles and said, “I was struggling to make ends meet; it was also difficult for me to even pay the doctor’s fees. I had been out of work for four years. But now it’s time for me to rejoice as I am out of my lows and enjoy acting again in Bollywood with Sumeru,”
Though she only received a few offers of help, she was shocked to find that many of the people she expected to support her did not do so. Shagufta said that she is very grateful to Rohit Shetty, Anupam Kher, Johny Lever, Ashoke Pandit, and Aanand L Rai for being there when she needed help the most.
She said, “It’s about the kind of bond you share with an individual. My hardship years made me realize that people who I was confident would stand by me did not support me at all. I used to think highly of them. Rather, I received help from people I never expected. But I have no ill feelings towards anyone, and I would like to say thank you to those who stood by me,”. Among other things, Madhuri Dixit and the team of the dance reality show where she recently appeared gave her a cheque for 5 lakh. Shagufta, filled with emotions, accepts the cheque.
